Singer/Songwriter Jamie Donaldson contacted us looking for new images he could use for promotional material, to accompany the release of his forthcoming single. Though he didn’t have a specific visual concept in mind, he sent over some image references (John Meyer). We shot some standard singer/songwriter shots for safety. However, listening to his songs I had the idea of the Nick Drake photo on the back of Five Leaves Left; Drake standing against a brick wall bemused by a man about to run past him. The image, by Keith Morris, taken at a low shutter speed, is congruent with Drake’s mythology of a man operating at a different pace to the world around him. I found Jamie’s persona to have similarities, and so I suggested we try and capture some images of him stood still, with the world speeding by.
The final image is the concept Jamie chose as his album cover.
